NATIONAL DAFFODIL THEATRE COMPETITION LAUNCHES IN MILTON KEYNES
Official launch at Midsummer Place on JUNE 6.
The Daffodil Theatre Awards are back with a bang and are bigger and better then ever.
The awards, to be launched on Saturday 6th June in Midsummer Place Shopping Centre, Milton Keynes, from 11.00am – 3.00pm, allow budding writers and poets to bring along any writing and scripts to be critiqued for free by our competition judges.
You can also sign up to the competition with your '5 minute pieces' as well as learn more about what to expect on the day.
This is the second year of the annual competition with budding playwrights and performance poets competing for prizes of Best New Writing, Best Overall Piece and Best Actor. The panel of judges boast a line up of creative talent, consisting of DAVID MORGAN, Poet, Playwright and Arts Writer, SALLY LUFF, Dramaturge and founder of the Ambassador Theatre Writers Group, ERICA MARTIN Founder of Barefeat Theatre Company, Actor and Playwright and VICTORIA MARTIN of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
20 finalists will be invited to showcase their 5 minute plays at an exclusive evening on 25th October, 2009 at Stantonbury Campus Theatre in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Local Marie Curie Fundraiser Victoria Martin said of the competition: “This year’s competition will be one to be remembered, writers will be competing for amazing, professional prizes such as award specific workshops, copyright opportunities, their pieces critiqued by professionals, and who wouldn’t want their scripts published in a book to be sold on the night! All money raised will go towards the Marie Curie Cancer Care Nurses who provide end of life care for terminally ill cancer patients.
We greatly need audience support and participation; some awards will be based on audience votes as well as by the judges, so please show your support by buying a ticket for the evening”.
So why don’t you pop down to the MK shopping centre to find out more information, bring your scripts and get some advice on how to improve your writing skills and acting talents.
The Daffodil Theatre Awards is open to all – entrants must be 16 or over. Please submit completed plays to victoria.martin@mariecurie.org.uk by 1st August 2009. Download the flyer and view the full terms and conditions at www.mariecurie.org.uk
