woman with laptopShoppers and retailers can now experience 100% wireless internet coverage in Midsummer Place.

Local wireless communications specialist Briteyellow, a UK leader in designing and managing high performance broadband wireless systems for retail centres, completed connection throughout the shopping centre this week.

The wireless service is completely free to all internet-enabled devices such as mobile phones and laptops; enabling shoppers to connect to a high-speed network seamlessly.

The system, called Britezone, offers any user the chance to “opt-in” and receive free information from local stores online while surfing or via SMS text alerts. Customers can also use the system to find out about special offers, availability of goods, event or appointment reminders or make free or cheap phone calls using the latest Wi-Fi or dual-mode phones that also support traditional cellular services.

In addition, Briteyellow’s service means sponsors and other retailers can now advertise relevant information to shoppers and visitors. Martin Hindson, Centre Manager at Midsummer Place said: “This is an effective new communication medium which will provide us with an exciting new way of keeping in touch with our customers – wherever they are in the Centre.

“The service is completely optional and non-intrusive, which allows customers the option to opt in or opt out at any time.”

Briteyellow founder and Chief Executive, Fredi Nonyelu said “Over the past three years, Briteyellow has been pioneering a scalable service in Central Milton Keynes that enables retailers to communicate in a targeted and intelligent way with shoppers and staff. Using a variety of channels from SMS, email and push-web our Britezone service works for any retail application and enables operators to interact with shoppers or retailers efficiently while providing access to a rich variety of information”.

Briteyellow is a specialist broadband wireless telecoms operator offering community broadband, managed services and consulting.
