300 bus gets a makeover!
The 300 bus service was relaunched on 5th January when one of the brand new buses and the brand new look, platinumMK, were unveiled at Midsummer Place.
One of the new buses was on display in Midsummer Place and the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr Euan Henderson, cut the ribbon at 11.15am. In his remarks Cllr Euan Henderson paid tribute to the partnership between Milton Keynes Council, Milton Keynes Partnership and Arriva that has contributed to the success of the 300 since it started in April 2009.
The brand new Mercedes buses will be going into service in the next few days carrying the new PlatinumMK 300 branding. Run by Arriva, the service connects Milton Keynes Central Station and Central Milton Keynes with Brooklands, Broughton Gate, Kingston and Magna Park. Over 75,000 people have travelled on the service since April 2009.
The new buses are state of the art low floor, easy access buses with lots of features to make the journey more comfortable, including a free wi-fi connection, air conditioning, a digital CCTV system inside and out as well as extra legroom and more space for buggies. Their hi-tech, cleaner, greener engines go further than the latest emission regulations so they are better for the environment as well.
As an added incentive to try the new buses and to celebrate their arrival, all journeys on PlatinumMK 300 on will be free of charge over the next weekend (Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th January).
