ON YOUR BIKE FOR DONS CHARITY CYCLE
Teams of local businesses have raised an incredible £1941.85 in a marathon charity cycle for Help the Heroes and the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust (SET).
Eleven teams of six took it in turns throughout last week to cover the greatest distance possible in six hours on static exercise bikes provided by energie Fitness Milton Keynes – and the winning team, covering a total distance of 241.98 km was Dunstable Fire Station. The total distance covered by all teams was 2201.72km this was an average of 183 per team, just over what the team need to ride per day in June.

The event took place in Midsummer Place and was in support of the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust’s 1000 Mile Bike Challenge in June where a team of 6, including MK Dons Community Ambassador Paul Mitchell, will ride the gruelling 1000 miles between Lands End and John O’Groats. Each team made a donation to take part and participants received an MK Dons match ticket, team challenge t-shirt and a signed team photo with Community Ambassador and first Team Coach, Paul Mitchell.
Dunstable Fire Station have won a Corporate Box and catering at an MK Dons First Team match; and Wallace Cameron and Honda plus third place, Bullerwell will each received runners up prizes. There is a further prize of a signed, framed MK Dons first team squad shirt for the biggest fundraiser to be presented at a future home match.
Paul Mitchell, MK Dons Community Ambassador and a member of the Football League’s Help for Heroes Ambassadors Team said; “We would like to thank all the participants for their hard work plus those that sponsored and donated on the day. There was a great atmosphere during the week and the event was a big success.”
